Avant Gallery Featured Artist Will Kurtz Donates Sculptures to Furry Friends
Daphne, Gomer, Spicy and Stanley found a fur-ever home, but these are not your average pups. Created by artist Will Kurtz, the four canine companions are larger-than-life sculptures a part of the artist's series Doggy Bags. Each sculpture depicts the unique and playful personalities of each breed and, through the use of recycled single use plastic bags to construct each sculpture, provides a commentary about the absurdity of waste and the need to recycle. The installation was brought to The Square by Avant Gallery in mid-March and was on display throughout the public spaces through early June, quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite.
During the exhibition, The Square partnered with Furry Friends of Jupiter and hosted the rescue's adoption van next to Avant Gallery for an afternoon focused on finding these furry friends' their fur-ever home.
Through this strong community partnership with Furry Friends, the Daphne, Gomer, Spicy and Stanley sculptures also found a new home and were relocated to the Furry Friends campus in Jupiter, FL where they'll continue to put a smile on each guest's face.
