Your Wine Tour through The Square for National Wine Day
Love a good glass of wine? Well, this holiday is for you. Celebrate National Wine Day on May 25th at these restaurants at The Square known for their selection of vino.
Take a tour around the neighborhood and sip on these wines recommended by each restaurant:
Experts at Restoration Hardware describe Gros Ventre Cellars Pinot Noir as having a round texture, beautiful fruit, great acidity, and a clean, lengthy finish that lingers on the palate.
True Food Kitchen recommends Alta Vita Cannonau. It is a rich, full-bodied, flavor-filled wine consisting of raspberry and strawberry jam with notes of coffee, spices, and herbs. This bright purple, red wine is good for the heart thanks to its high resveratrol, which acts like antioxidants and protecting the body against damage that can put you at higher risk cancer and heart disease.
City Cellar has a selection of over 600 bottles and 60 wines by the glass. For National Wine Day, their team suggested a glass of Belle Glos Pinot Noir by Clack and Telephone, which features a deep ruby red color with lush aromas of ripe cherry, nutmeg, and dark chocolate laced with clove, cedar, and lightly toasted oak.
Italian trattoria Il Bellagio suggests the 2020 Caymus Suisun Petite Sirah for a full-bodied experience with flavors of dark fruit and warm baking spices and finishes of vanilla and toasted oak to tie it all in. This bottle is currently featured on Il Bellagio's specialty menu and sold by the bottle.
The Planta bar offers a Sauvignon Blanc by New Zealand-based vineyard Nautilus, which displays intense lifted aromas of passionfruit, lemongrass, and ripe grapefruit. The palate introduces delightful lime zest flavors with mouth-watering intensity finishing with a vital textural component.
Adrienne's Pizza Bar selects the bold and vibrant Barbera D'Alba by Alessandro Vegilo. This wine is described as bright ruby red with scents of ripe red fruits and mixed berries and topped off with a vanilla finish.
Felice offers two bottles of wine to enjoy for the day. The first is a member of their collection, the Felice Sangiovese, one of the three elegant wines produced with great care by the organic vineyard Fattoria Sardi. The second is the "Super Tuscan" Solaia by Marchesi Antinori, described with notes of small red fruit, especially raspberries and mulberries, leading to sweet sensations of ripe apricots, red oranges, and light floral hints of roses. Distinct coffee beans, chocolate, and licorice aromas are perfectly integrated and accompanied by fresh mint and white pepper impressions.
